Golf Classic

Please find detailed below some information around our 2017 Clare District Soccer League Golf Classic, hopefully this may aid your sponsorship consideration.

The Clare District Soccer League is the governing body for all soccer activities at youth and adult level in Co. Clare with over 1500 players registered in our League. The Clare Soccer team won the All-Ireland “Oscar Traynor Trophy” title the last 2 years and soccer has never been as popular in our county. Our League is getting stronger every year and this has been recognised at Junior International level where two of our players Stephen Kelly and Eoin Hayes from Newmarket are now established stars on the Ireland team which reached the UEFA Regions Cup Final in Turkey recently. Stephen won the FAI Junior International Player of the Year and was the first player from our county to win the award.

Our County Ground is called Frank Healy Park and is located on the Quin Road, outside Ennis. At present it hosts between 40 and 50 games annually. The development of the County Ground is an ongoing process and the next phase of that development is the erection of a stand. There is an obvious need for a stand to be erected to continue the development of soccer in the county for current and future stars of the game. The Clare District Soccer League is currently budgeting for that construction and are running a Golf Classic as a fundraiser.

We'd love if you could support us in with the attached event with a team sponsorship and/or a hole sponsorship. Alternatively, we’d gladly welcome any spot price or donation that you might be able to give.

New clubs seeking admission to membership must similarly make an application in writing to the Secretary by the same date.

Addition to Rule 47:
d) Should a club or team fail to complete its fixtures, three points shall be awarded to the disappointed teams for each of the un-played matches, except when a club or team has played less than half (1/2) of its scheduled matches, then its record shall be deleted completely.

New Rule 59:

Shannon Town A
Due to an administrative error Shannon Town A played an unregistered player in First Division League Cup match against Rineanna Rovers. As the player was not registered the match has been awarded to Rineanna 3-0. The CDSL committee has decided to have a play-off at Cassidy Park between Lifford and Rineanna Rovers to see who meets Kilrush Rangers in the Final at the County Grounds. Clubs are reminded when sending copies of forms by email that they should also send a hard copy of form in the post as if the League does not get a copy of the form the player is not registered. You also need confirmation from the League that your player is registered before he plays. Also a player is only eligible to play in a League or Cup match if there is one (1) calendar day between the date of receipt of registration form by the League and the day of a match. FAI Rule 32 (3)

Oscar Traynor

The Clare League is delighted to announce Donie Garrihy as our new Oscar Traynor manager. Donie brings a lot of experience, quality and enthusiasm to the position. He previously served as assistant manager under the late Hugh Kelly and John O'Malley. He knows what's involved to be successful in the competition and we are confident that we have appointed the right man to the position that can give us the best chance of being successful. Donie brings a top class backroom team with him. David Russell is one of the most respected soccer men in Clare who has served as captain of Clare and his club Avenue for many years. He was the only man for the position according to Donie and we all look forward to working with him. Denis Hynes is a UEFA A qualified coach who is also the FAI Development Officer in Clare. His knowledge of players and the game is second to none and he completes a quality management team for the season ahead.

Clare Youths

The Clare League is also delighted to announce Colm Ryan as our new Youths manager. Colm is an excellent manager and coach who was our Oscar Traynor manager in 2011. Recently he has been involved in underage teams with Shannon Town. While it's not easy for us to compete for honors in this competition due to a number of our better players moving to League of Ireland clubs we have appointed a man who can make us competitive this season and continue the progress made under Mark Moloney last season. Gerry Kelly is an excellent coach who has completed his Youths Cert with the FAI. He was involved in the backroom team with manager Liam Murphy when we reached the Oscar Traynor Final in 2014. Bill Boyd completes the backroom team. He has a lot of experience at managing at Youths level and is another excellent coach.

EGM / First Delegate Meeting Monday 4th August 2015
Election of Officers

Michael Lydon was elected the new Secretary.
Jason Ryan was elected the new Registrar.

Website
New Clare Soccer website www.claresoccer.net was officially launched at meeting and has already had 1300 hits in first few hours.

Rule Change
New Rule 30 carried unanimously by delegates: A minimum of four meetings of the Management Committee shall be held during the football season and will be convened by the Executive Committee. Notification of such meetings shall be through the Local Press & Email.
- Meetings to take place in August, October, January and March

Promotion / Relegation
No change to promotion from the First Division to Premier Division for the new season so if any B team finishes in the top 3 the promotion place automatically goes to the next placed team in division.

The promotion/relegation play-offs for 3rd placed teams will continue for the new season.

Fundraiser
Clubs agreed to sell 6 x €10 tickets for the FAI National draw as a fundraiser for the League this year.

End of Season Awards
Clubs agreed with running an informal event as an end of season awards night. The League is still looking for 2 or 3 more people to join a committee to run this event.

Payments
Clubs were reminded when paying registration or fines that payment needs to be by cheque, postal order or bank draft. No cash will be accepted.

Grant Applications / Advertising
The legal side of our grant application from 2013 for lights has finally been sorted and payment of grant will go through shortly after we send on some final documentation later this week.

The League will be applying for a grant in 2016 to build a stand at the County Grounds. To help fundraise for the new stand the League will be selling advertising signs to businesses at the Grounds for €300 for the first year & €200 after that. Initially the League will incur most of the cost of signs and installation but long term this will bring in a regular income. Any businesses interested in purchasing an aluminium 7 x 3 sign can contact any member of the Executive for details.

New Managers
The League has not appointed an Oscar Traynor or Inter-League Youths manager yet. Donie Garrihy is the only candidate in the running for the Oscar Traynor position and he is currently finalising his backroom team before talking to the committee. It's expected he will be ratified in the next 2 weeks. The League is still interested in hearing from applicants for the Inter-League Youths manager position.

Free Weekends
Requests for free weekends during the season should be emailed to Donal Kirby "This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. giving a minimum of 2 weeks notice.

New Season
The new season will be kicking off on Sunday 23rd August with full round of league games in the Premier Division and league cup games in all other divisions.

Youths League games will start on 5th September. Registration for Youths players has been reduced to €10 per player. The winning team in the Youths League will also get a set of jerseys for their club. This has been sponsored by Selprint in Shannon. A start date for the U17 League will be announced when the CSSL U16 League finishes. Registration for U17 teams is a club registration fee of €100 to cover all players. The FAI U17 Cup Preliminary Round is on 19/20 September. The FAI U17 Cup First Round is on 3/4 October. The FAI Youths Cup Preliminary Round is on 26/27 September. The FAI Youths Cup First Round is on 24/25 October. The Munster Youths Cup First Round is on 12/13 September.

If you can't enter a team on your own we encourage clubs to talk to their neighbours and see if you can join up to enter a team. It's important for the long term future of the game that we get more players and clubs playing at underage. There is no issue with 2/3 clubs in an area joining up to enter a team and those players will still be available for your own club when needed.
